Attention...Ignite an Interest

F6 - F8 New Recruits Report for Duty:
Friday 11th March 1.30pm - 3pm

Remember to bring Army Rations for Lunch

The "Ignite an Interest" sessions were set up with two aims in mind. Firstly, to provide the children with little snap shots of some of the very many careers that lie before them Secondly, to tap in to a very valuable resource, our Parent population. For this session we are delighted to have Compass Parent and former soldier, Matthew Quinn, facilitating. Matthew brings with him Captain Drew Tait.
The British Armed forces are the second largest employer in the UK with 125,000 people engaged in a whole host of different professions. Some are obvious, such as a pilot or a tank commander but there are quite literally 100s of other paths to take. Up periscope..and lets take a look!
Captain Dew Tait joined the army as a boy soldier at 16. He served for the next 22 years in the Royal Regiment of Scotland and held every non-commissioned rank from private soldier to Regimental Sergeant Major. Captain Tait has served in various operational theatres of active conflict, including Europe, Northern Ireland and the Middle East. We are delighted to welcome Captain Tait as our man on the ground.
Currently 9% of the British Armed Forces are female personnel. This figure has changed significantly over the last 50 years. So, this isn't a session for boys only. There is space and a place for everyone in our regiment.
