Summer Holiday Camps

Lots of East Lothian Fun in the Sun

The summer break will be here before we know it, so to help keep your children active and entertained we’ve compiled a list of camps, clubs and activities that we’re aware of that are taking place in East Lothian over the holiday period. We can’t make recommendations but they all sound like fun! Early booking advisable.

On at the Compass School...

Drama Mill, 13-17 July and also at Gullane Village Hall from 20-25 July and 3-7 August: Drama, arts & crafts, singing, dancing and games for children aged 5-12 years. Morning, afternoon or full-day sessions available. Email: or visit:
Art and Play Summer Camp, 27-31 July: Art & craft activities and fun indoor and outdoor games. Hosted by Mrs Thorburn (Compass Care) and Mrs Thorburn (Form 1). For children in Forms 1-8, daily from 9am-4pm. Likely cost is £150 for the week. Please speak to them directly to book a place.
Drama and Film Summer School, 3-7 August: Hosted by Sylvia Cockburn and Andy Goddard. Running from 10am-4pm for children in Forms 3-8. Cost for the week £120. Contact: Mr Goddard on 07773 310624

Athletics Summer Camp at East Lothian’s Athletics Arena - Meadowmill, by Tranent, 13-17 July, 27-31 July and 10-14 August: 10am-12 noon for P4-P7 pupils. Coast 2 Coast Junior Surf & Adventure Courses, Belhaven Bay, every week of the holidays right up until 27 August: Daily lessons in surfing, coasteering or stand up paddle. Running Monday to Thursdays, 2-hour lessons from 10.30am to 12.30pm or/and 1.30-3.30pm. Full-day as well as individual lessons. For children aged 7+ or 10+ for stand up paddle. Dance and Drama Holiday School at Haddington School of Dance and Music, 13-17 July and 20-24 July: Week 1 - ‘Musical Madness’ - Dances and songs from musicals old and new. Week 2 - ‘Pop Stars’ – the no.1’s and different dances and techniques to some of the most popular songs of the last year.Running from 10am-4pm daily for ages 5-14 years. East Lothian Council Summer Activities Calendar - Literally hundreds of activities and sessions running through the holidays. Activities cover sport, dance, drama, outdoor adventures, library workshops, countryside rangers, museum activities, arts & crafts and digital media sessions to name a few. View their calendar here:

Eco-kidz summer activity week at Yellowcraigs, 3-6 August: Only a few places left! For children aged 8-14, learn how to build a shelter, gather wild food, cook on a campfire etc. 9am-5pm. Email: or call: 07807 032491.

Enjoy-a-ball Multi-Activity Summer Camps (ages 3-10) and Sports Academy (ages 9-12) running throughout the summer break: wide range of sports, games, arts & crafts, treasure hunts and lots more at a number of venues in East Lothian. Fidra Lions Hockey Club, Meadowmill Sports Centre, by Tranent, 4-8 August: Morning sessions for Forms 2-5 and afternoon sessions for Forms 6-8. Email:
Football School as part of the Scottish FA Summer Roadshow, throughout the summer holidays at various venues in East Lothian. Aimed at children aged 5-12 to develop skills and play lots of fun football games and activities. Courses run from 10am-2.30pm.
