Introduction to Easyfundraising & Easysearch
THE COMPASS SCHOOL FOUNDATION
Dear Parents,
Welcome to all the new parents and to those returning to the School. We’d like to take this opportunity to familiarise you with the role of The Compass School Foundation, its trustees and Committee, and would really appreciate it if you could spare a few minutes to read through this brief introduction.
The Foundation Trustees
There are three trustees of The Compass School Foundation at any one time, generally existing parents who serve for an unspecified number of years. The chairperson is currently Emma Mackenzie, the treasurer Roger Green and the secretary Dylan Ball. The role of the trustees exists as a link between the Board of Governors and the CSF committee to ensure that the monies raised by the CSF are spent wisely and that they enhance the experience enjoyed by pupils of the school. Ensuring the consistent provision of bursary funding is also within their remit. Finally it is their responsibility to ensure the charity complies with legislation and the financial regulations imposed by OSCR.
What is The Foundation Committee?
The Foundation Committee is the organisation within the School that arranges social events and fundraising for the School.
-
The Compass School Foundation aims to support the School financially in meeting its long term plans and ambitions, by assisting its capital projects.
-
We contribute to the School’s bursary system, ensuring that the benefits of a Compass School education are not restricted to those families who can meet the financial commitment.
-
Our aim is to organise social occasions and fundraising activities in which the whole community of the School can join.
Who is on the Committee?
The Committee consists of parents who have volunteered their knowledge and skills to help fulfil the purpose of the Foundation.
Currently we are as follows:
Caroline Pearson, Secretary: Jack in Form 6
Pauline Middlemass, Teasurer: Adam, F2 and Robyn F1
Lorna Rowan: Jack in Form 6
Fleur Nisbet: Abby in Form 6
Elaine Sutherland: Finn in Form 5 and Freya in Form 3
Jo Thomas: Henry in Form 3 and Anna in Form 1
Claire Smith: Angus in Form 6
Kate Bogie: Caspar in Form 6 and Angus in Form 4
Past successes
We had a tough challenge last year of raising funds to support the new Astroturf and through a variety of activities, most notably May’s ball, managed a staggering £26,500. Last October’s Halloween Party was brilliant fun and deemed a huge success by parents and pupils alike. In the past, there have been many different fundraising events; a Curry and Quiz night, three balls, Garden Tours, Fireworks and a Race Night to name but a few. While there is always a need to raise funds, we consider it of equal importance to ensure The Foundation focuses on hosting fun family events wherever possible.

School Merchandise
The Compass School Foundation is also responsible for sourcing and selling (with the kind help of the office staff), School merchandise. There are School boot bags, umbrellas, water bottles, baseball caps, a cook book, a shopping bag and we are currently planning some more items to be available in time for Christmas.
Can you help?
Yes please! These events take a lot of organising so if you can help with the above or any future events in any way we’d be thrilled. Likewise, we’re always looking for fundraising/activity ideas so all suggestions would be very welcome.
Finally, one way you can all support The Foundation is by coming along with your family to the events we organise - and having a great time!
